The sample count · since 2015

An early look,
not the result.

At the start of counting, for each polling station, a counting assistant picks up a random bundle of 100 ballot papers in front of the candidates' agents and counts it. ELD weights the bundles by the votes cast at each station and publishes each constituency's sample count, in whole percent, while counting goes on, "to prevent speculation and misinformation from unofficial sources"; officials also check the final count against it. ELD says the result could differ. Its stated accuracy, as widely reported, is within 4 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.

In 2025 the winner's final share was within 2 points of the sample in 30 of 32 contested constituencies, and within 3 in all; the widest gap was Yio Chu Kang, sampled at 76% and returned at 78.75%.

Nomination Day · 23 April 2025

Five seats
before a vote.

At the close of nominations at 12 noon only the PAP team had filed for Marine Parade–Braddell Heights GRC, so the Returning Officer declared it elected unopposed: Goh Pei Ming, Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Diana Pang Li Yen, Seah Kian Peng, Tin Pei Ling. Its 131,820 electors did not vote. It was the only walkover of 2025, and the first since 2011 (Tanjong Pagar GRC).

After the count

NCMPs,
then the House.

With ten opposition MPs elected, two Non-Constituency MP seats were offered to the best-placed losing opposition candidates: Andre Low (WP, Jalan Kayu SMC) and Eileen Chong (WP, Tampines GRC), declared on 19 May 2025. How NCMPs and GRCs work →

By-elections · 36 since 1957

Between
the general elections.

A vacant single seat is filled at a by-election; a GRC vacancy need not be unless the whole team has gone. The last was Bukit Batok SMC on 7 May 2016. Since July 2026 one seat in Marine Parade–Braddell Heights GRC has been vacant, with no by-election. By-election rules →
