Congresso Nacional · CF arts. 44–58
513 deputies, 81 senators.
Two houses, one Congress.
Legislative power belongs to the National Congress (Congresso Nacional), made up of the Chamber of Deputies, elected by proportional representation in each state for four years, and the Federal Senate, three senators per state for eight (CF arts. 44–46). The 57th legislature sits until 31 January 2027; the 58th, elected on 4 October 2026, takes office on 1 February.

The Chamber
today.
Benches as the Câmara lists them on 6 Nov 2026, by each deputy's current party. They differ from the 2022 result: deputies may change party without losing the seat during the window before each election (janela partidária), and substitutes sit for members on leave. 8 substitutes (suplentes em exercício) are in office now.
An absolute majority is 257 votes; a constitutional amendment needs 308 in two rounds (CF art. 60 §2). Women hold 89 seats, 17,3%.

the Chamber.
The presiding board (Mesa) is elected by the deputies for two years, with no immediate re-election within the legislature (CF art. 57 §4); it sets the agenda with the party leaders, whose votes in the leaders' meeting (Colégio de Líderes) weigh by bench size.

Elected 4 October 2026 · 58th legislature, 2027–2031
The Chamber
from February.
385 deputies won on their list's quotient (quociente partidário) and 128 on leftover seats by the largest average (média), as the TSE marks them. Federations ran as one list; the seats here are split by each winner's own party. How the quotient works →
Women: 107 of 513 (20,9%), up from 89 sitting now. 302 of the 513 elected (58,9%) sit in the current Chamber and 211 do not. This is a match by name within each state (civil name from the TSE candidate file, or ballot name without titles such as “Delegado” or “Pastor”): deputies on leave (ministers, state secretaries) are not in the sitting roster, so they count as new, and the figure is an estimate.

Seats are shared among the states by population with a floor of 8 and a ceiling of 70, so the smallest states have more seats per inhabitant than São Paulo. The quotient is the state's valid votes divided by its seats.

From 1 February 2027
The new Senate:
27 stay, 54 arrive.
In 2026 two seats per state were renewed: the 54 won in 2018. The 27 senators elected in 2022 (or their substitutes) stay until 2031. 12 of the 54 elected were among the outgoing senators of their state (by name). Women: 18 of 81.
Counted here from the TSE result files by each winner's party at the election, plus the sitting senators' current party. Press tallies made on election night differ by a seat (PL 28 in one count, 29 in another), and party changes before February can move them again.

Shares are of the valid votes for senator in the state; each voter had two votes. “Re-elected” is a name match with that state's outgoing senators.
