Women in the Chamber · by term
63.75%,
against 27.5% worldwide.
The Constitution sets women "occupying at least 30% of positions in decision-making organs" as a fundamental principle (Art. 10) and requires at least 30% of deputies to be women (Art. 75(3)); the 24 women's seats alone are 30%. Women also win list seats: 25 of the 53 in 2024. The 2008 Chamber was the first national legislature in the world with a majority of women.
World figure: UN News, 6 Mar 2026, on the IPU's Women in Parliament 2025: women held 27.5% of parliamentary seats worldwide at the start of 2026 (secondary). It covers all chambers; Rwanda's is the lower chamber. IPU's own site refuses automated reading, so we did not read the report directly.
