✶ Parties & polls · Pemilu 14 February 2024

Eighteen parties,
eight in the House.

Eighteen national parties were on the 2024 ballot, each with the number the KPU drew for it, plus six local parties that ran only for Aceh's own assemblies. Eight cleared the 4% national threshold and share the DPR's 580 seats; the other ten took 17.304.168 votes (11,4%), which elected no one to the DPR.

Over the line,
under the line.

The closest miss was the United Development Party (PPP), one of the two parties the New Order allowed beside Golkar from 1973: 3,87%, 193.024 votes short of 4%. How the seats were then shared out is on the seat lab.

Prabowo Subianto won the presidency with the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (Koalisi Indonesia Maju); after the election NasDem, PKB and PKS, which had backed Anies Baswedan, moved behind the new government too, a grouping often called KIM Plus. PDI-P, the largest party, has no ministers and calls itself a balancing force. Indonesian law knows no formal opposition: parties are in the cabinet or not. The arithmetic of majorities and the presidential nomination threshold is on the coalition page.

Party families · 2024 vote

Nationalist and Islamic,
within Pancasila.

Families are this site's grouping, after the parties' own platforms and standard references. Every party must accept the state ideology, Pancasila; the Islamic parties differ mainly in their link to Nahdlatul Ulama (traditionalist), Muhammadiyah (modernist) or a more explicitly Islamist programme.
